Hebrews 10:23-25
Church we need to encourage one another to live steadfast in the Lord.
Why should we want to bothers someone at times -- as a Christian.
Well I’ll tell ya why. God tells us to tell people about Him.
Why shouldn’t we challenge people into a complete peace in God.
Why shouldn’t we want to tell them what our God promises.
Did you know --- A sinner does more persuading than a Christian.
Are ya with Me --- A sinner does more persuading than a Christian
What do you think about that. ----- Do you agree.
Church --- What’s wrong with this picture.
We need to change this persuading around AMEN
We need Stand up for Jesus --
We need to Praise our Lord’s name.
Eh let us win ---- I say -- Let us win the Victory for our Lord.
Does He not Deserve it.
Serve him with complete gladness. When you walk into His House.
Plan on smiling, plan on telling someone what God has done for you.
Plan on Praising Worshipping and Loving our God.
As Paul is writing here in the 10th chapter of Hebrews he is discussing the concept of faith with his readers.
He begins his writing by telling how the sacrificial requirements of the Law were insufficient, because it only rolled back sin for a year.
And that Christ’s one time sacrifice was sufficient in that it permanently removed sin.
Paul then writes that since we have faith in the sufficiency of Christ we need to grow in that faith, and the gathering together of believers is part of that growth process, so in this passage he tells us that we shouldn’t neglect going to church.
This evening, we set out to answer that age old and often asked question, why go to Church?
I. PAUL’S WORD ON CHURCH ATTENDENCE
a. Paul begins by telling us that we need to “hold fast” to what we believe
- To hold to the confession of our hope, our confessed faith in Jesus Christ
- This isn’t always an easy thing to do, at times it’s a great trial
- We are warned that if we quit holding fast then we will loose that hope that we possess
- Paul encourages us to maintain our faith and stand firm behind what we believe and know to be true
- If we are faithful to God, God will be faithful to us
- We will not be disappointed if we hold fast to our confession without wavering, because the one making that promise can be totally relied upon.
Romans 10:17
17. So then, faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God."
Jesus is the Word.
The word is living.
The word is anointed.
The word will convict thru the Holy Spirit.
Because we have heard the word, we are accountable to what we have heard.
We need to encourage our Friends --- our Love ones to attend Church
We need to plan our Sunday’s for God. “AMEN”
Did you know --- God blesses those who come. “Amen”
How many times have someone ever got on your nerves.
I had a friend that every time we would get together he would get on my nerves.
Every day he would sneak in the name of Jesus with our daily activity.
Ya know --- I wouldn’t say nothing to him -- but at times -- it bothered me
Several times I did get in, Yeah I know. I don’t need you to keep telling me.
Church I know why He was doing this.
He was concerned about My life.
He was that kind of friend.
23. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;
24. And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
25. Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Why do people come to Church.
Do they come to be forgiven?
Is it because it makes them feel like their doing something right.
Ya know -- I need to let you in on something -- God knows why your at Church.
How many of us come swerving into Church,
God’s word say’s for us to examine our Lives.
How many of us come -- But then when we get here --- we hesitate to come in
How many of us try to get to Church -- then make it to Church -- but then we find we are not having a desire to serve God.
I’m here to tell ya something this morning --- If your missing the Boat ---- your missing the Blessing
Church -- To be Blessed from God ---- We must want to be at Church so that we can experience Gods Blessings first hand --- “AMEN”
We should want and we should plan to attend Church
Praise God --- If you do.
Brothers and Sisters --- We need to tell ourselves what it is we want - out of our worship --- or what we plan to do while we worship.
How many have planned to go to our open House.
Did ya just show up --- Did ya say -- Eh lets go to the Open House, Lets go to the First Baptist Church.
Some may have just popped in --Some had planned out their outing.
Plan out, going to Church and receive the Victory that was won for you.
Jesus --- You know Jesus ---- He has won the Victory for You and Me --- AMEN --- that Yessssss.
Let me ask you something this Morning - did Jesus win for you or for Himself.
Ahh -- Maybe Jesus won the Victory for Himself -- You know --- So He could Brag about defeating Satan.
Church -- You need to listen to this one verse I‘m about to say -- I’m here to tell you -- Jesus won the victory for you and Me.
Plan on Church and God will bless you.
Jesus wins the victory everyday.
And ya know what -- It’s not a sport, that can change in victory status
Jesus has won the victory because he loves you and me.
Jesus paid the ultimate victory thru His Death and Resurrection.
Squirrels had overrun three churches in town.
After much prayer, the elders of the first church determined that the squirrels were predestined to be there, who were they to interfere with God’s will?
They reasoned.
The elders of the second church deciding that they could not harm any of God’s creatures humanely trapped the squirrels and set them free outside of town.
Three days later, the squirrels were back.
It was only the third church that succeeded in keeping the squirrels away.
They baptized all the squirrels and registered them as members of the church.
Now they only see them on Christmas and Easter.
